SELman Sezek, who plays the instruments Darbuka, Bendir, Def, Davul, Cajon, Djembe as well as Talking drum, was born in Hilden and grew up in Turkey. At the border crossing of Turkey, the 11 year old bought himself a small Darbuka with his last Lira.
He taught himself the rhythms of music autodidactically and later learned the complicated straight and crooked rhythms with enthusiasm and set himself the task of becoming a professional musician.
Already at a young age he made acquaintances and played with well-known musicians like Jürgen Dahmen, Reiner Witzel, Ergün Aktoprak, Muzaffer Gürenc, Konstantin Wienstroer, Ruppi and many more. and groups like "Tierra Negra", "SES" , "Saz`n Jazz, "RUPI-The Sun", group "TAN", " TurlitavaShutka", "Palmitessa Oriental-Jazz", NRW-Pool Project" YanYana", Brandecker Sprach CDs and others.
