Gregory Gaynair son of the well-known Jamaican tenor saxophonist Wilton Gaynair, was born in 1961 in Düsseldorf.

He learned to play the piano at the age of seven and gained his first experience in bands at an early age. In Cologne he studied jazz at the "Musikhochschule Köln" with Francis Coppieters. Besides guest performances and tours through Europe, Africa, Canada, Caribbean, Gregory Gaynair was also involved in numerous record, theater, television and film productions. Gregory Gaynair has played with such renowned musicians as Arnet Cobb, Woddy Shaw, Wilton Gaynair, John C. Marshall, Gene "Mighty Flea" Conners, Joan Faulkner, Melhra Rai, Albie Donnelly Spencer davis Group, and many others.

Gregory's Jamaican roots are unmistakable. In the way he celebrates his Jazz, soulful, bluesy, afro-cuban and romantic elements play a leading role. He has an extensive repertoire of his own compositions and standards, which he uses just as successfully as a solo pianist in addition to his band work.
