Wolfgang Engelbertz would never have become a bassist if a contemporary unwilling to practice had not offered him his electric bass. In the course of the thirty-one years that followed, he expanded his musical spectrum from rock electric bassist to jazz double bassist. He traveled the world as a musician on cruise ships and went on tour with "Wolf Doldinger and best Friends" in 2004 and 2005, which took the band to Washington, USA, where they performed at the German Embassy, among other places.

On the stages or in the studios of the world, among many other "gentlemen", the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, Benny Bailey, Tommy Emmanuel and Gregory Gaynair crossed his path. Not to forget the many top-class guests of the Sounds of Jazz series.
